About Us
Our Philosophy
We are a small team looking to improve resources and knowledge through the website to potential adopters, and people who have both found and lost dogs. We pull high risk dogs from local shelters that have been long-term residents, some that have both medical or behavioral issues. We believe that dogs need time to decompress from a shelter environment. Dogs adapt to new environments differently and each dog is unique in adjusting to their new home.
We can’t imagine how many names a dog has in their lifetime due to having multiple owners. Dogs love to please their owners but they can also be terrified at the same time. It can take days, months, and even years for a dog to fully be comfortable and show their true character.
Our Mission
Diamond from the Ruff dog sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, no-kill dog sanctuary. We are a small team looking to aid abandoned, abused, neglected and overall misunderstood dogs. We focus on educating the public by providing information and understanding of the dogs in our care as well as promoting adoption of shelter dogs. Diamond from the Ruff is dedicated to reducing the number of dogs that are euthanized in shelters due to overpopulation.
Our primary goal is to rescue and rehabilitate dogs in a loving home and provide their necessities as well as an enrichment program for happy and healthy dogs. We believe that all dogs deserve to have a safe and caring environment in order to thrive.
We started this sanctuary because of one of our shelter dogs named Mika. She was brilliant, compassionate, and beyond all an individual. She forever changed our lives in how we see all our dogs today. We called Mika the “boss” of our household until she was 15 years old, and she was amazing for all those years. Mika taught us that there is truly a Diamond from the Ruff in every dog.
